Thought I’d post some pictures of the final amp trap I have been working on for some time. This mobile dampener is pretty light which makes it easy to gig with. The customer I sold it to will take some dB readings for me when he uses it at his next few gigs.

Side panels are kept closed with strong magnets.

Ten cans of spray paint later, basecoat and clearcoats are done….finally!

Magnets and handle arrived. This week I’ll put the hinges on, recess the magnets, put the corner protectors and handle on.

Went with some countersunk neodymium magnets.
I’ll post some picts when they arrive and I go about recessing them.

Amp Trap…more painting

Lots of wet-sanding, 6 coats of paint. Starting to get the texture I’m after:

Comparison: See the brush lines on the left one?

That will go away after a quick wet sand and final spray.

Almost ready for the satin clear coat, then FINALLY it’s back to finishing the upholstery.

Into second and third coats of polyurethane on the amp trap. Two more should do it.

Let’s see how ‘ultimate’ it really is…

Going to take a few days of painting to build up the required thickness

I’d like to get it to where the poly is a few mm thick.
This will let it take bumps and scratches that go along with gigging and touring.
